Hi Andrea and Bernard,
just yesterday I was checking if GetProjectSettings returns 'alias' field
defined for attribute field and it was not there.

Now I was testing GetFeatureInfo response in GML and XML. XML returns alias,
but GML not.

In the very near future we are planning to propose a patch which adds many new
informations about project and layers in GetProjectSettings.
