[Qgis-user] QGIS Raster Calculator - cannot add two mutually exclusive areas with logical statement because nodata excludes the other's data

Once again, thanks for the reply. I really appreciate it and do not wish to
be difficult, but....
As I originally mentioned I tried the gdal_translate route but I am looking
for a way of doing this using the raster calculator as one can do in other
GISs. I didn't state that the reason is, once I get this down right, I will
turn over the procedure to be automated by others for bulk processing so I
am looking for a means of doing it in one statement. So my question is,
"Does the QGIS raster calculator have this ability?" (rather than as part of
the Model Builder).
You see, I am the one around here pushing the use of QGIS our agency's
research tool, rather than others. If I can not figure out a way to do it
within the Raster Calculator when most of the other GISs can, well I put at
a severe disadvantage. So please persevere with me on this.
