Hi the course that you are pointing to was first hosted by Linfiniti/Tim
but is now part of the official QGIS docs as 'QGIS Training Manual'.

So please go to

and
http://docs.qgis.org/2.8/en/docs/training_manual/

and download the exercise data

as stated here:

I think it is renamed 'roads.shp' now.... so please follow the new
updated training.
