[Qgis-user] connecting to wms

How to connect qgis to wms and similar services? I have seen various services that I would like to connect to e.g.
http://directory.spatineo.com/service/25565/

however when trying to add the web address shown
http://lasigpublic.nerc-lancaster.ac.uk/arcgis/services/LandCoverMap/LCM2007_GB_25m_V2/MapServer/WmsServer

to either the add layer to wms or metasearch menus it gives an error (error 203 or similar).

Adding wms used to be very simple but I am either now doing things wrong or the more recent versions of qgis seem to make this more complex.
