[Qgis-user] Sum of wastes.

Hi all,
I have 6 point different layers with XY coordinates.
Each point represents a company where wastes are generated.
The total amount of wastes varies a lot among the different locations 
and there are thousands of points.
Im not so interested in the distribution of the companies as in the 
total amount of wastes as a total sum.

Which do you think it would be the best of way of getting this done??.

I´ve thought of making buffers around each point considering the 
quantity of waste generated in each location.

Could I do better using the plugin Heatmap??

Any idea??
