[Qgis-user] QGIS browser panel

Hi

I tried to open the directory to a mapped drive on my PC with the QGIS (2.16) browser panel and found that it took around 3 minutes to open.

Just wondering by default does each file get scanned or something for it to take such a long time to open? And is there a way to change this so it will only perform the necessary actions when I choose a file to add to my layer panel?
