If you look under Raster -> conversion -> polygonize that should do the 
trick.

If you're back on 2.6.1 you might want to (at some point) upgrade to 2.8 
or 2.14 for more stability and a longer term release (actually 2.14 is 
the new LTR as 2.8 nears it's end of life).
