[Qgis-user] Raster Calculator Crashing

Hi Nicolas,

Thanks for the feedback, you correct in that reducing the size does not change anything! I will try out the other Raster calculators in the processing toolbox to see if they work while I wait on an install of the latest QGIS version.

Thanks,
Finbar

Hi,

Comprising the file will probably not change anything. Either the matrix hight and width is too big for the memory or your are running into a new problem. The calculator was modified. It can now handle very big rasters at a decent speed. (Bravo team!) you could use the saga calculator or the gdla_calc. Both your files will need to have the same extent, CRS and pixel posting for those algorithms to work. There is a algorithm in the raster menu that will help you match the files. Beware of the effects this will have on the data.

Hi Alessandro,

Testing the latest master version involves going through IT security to get an install which can take weeks to get resolved… but I am trying a workaround by using Translate (Convert Format) tool to compress the file and see if it will pass through the calculator.

But in the meantime I will look into getting the latest version of QGIS.

Thanks again,
Finbar

Hi,

I am using the Raster Calculator in QGIS 3.2.1 and it keeps crashing. The Raster file is 5,000,000kb in size… does anyone know any way around this?

I this was an issue before but it was resolved - https://issues.qgis.org/issues/18417

Gillen,

a lot of changes have been done on the raster calc lately, can you test latest master version?
