[Qgis-user] Exporting line as .gpx - every pair of points is a distinct segment

I have a line layer (source is a geopkg MultiLineString layer with one
feature containing about 2000 points) that I want to export to .gpx
format. The layer exports, but the resulting .gpx file contains a single
track with a distinct segment for every point. I want a single track
with a single segment. Are there options I need to set to make this
happen?  I've looked the OGR format docs for gpx and am not seeing
anything that applies.
