[Qgis-user] Multiple Layers

Thanks for the response. I think when I double
the ulimit to 2048 I am not really doing anything
positive for QGIS. I think it is just increasing
the ulimit for the terminal window, since each
terminal window appears to have its own ulimit.
Doubling the ulimit to 2048 also doesn't appear to
fix the problem.
I notice that when I turn on layers the CPU goes to
100% and stays there for a minute or more (in htop).
If I let it settle back down to near 0%, then QGIS
keeps working. If I keep clicking layers QGIS
freezes.
I think my system is fairly beefy, but maybe not:
CPU: Topology: Quad Core model: Intel Xeon E5-1630 v4 bits: 64
type: MT MCP arch: Broadwell
rev: 1 L2 cache: 10.0 MiB
flags: lm nx pae sse sse2 sse3 sse4_1 sse4_2 ssse3 vmx
bogomips: 59062
Speed: 2854 MHz min/max: 1200/4000 MHz Core speeds (MHz): 1:
1973 2: 1198 3: 1198
4: 1201 5: 1642 6: 1197 7: 1197 8: 1197
Graphics: Device-1: NVIDIA GP106 [GeForce GTX 1060 6GB]
Anyway, this problem is not hindering my work too much.
I will let you know if I find a good solution to it.
