[Qgis-user] Not able to add new feature

Hey, after re-reading your post, there's probably one more thing done wrong!

What you are doing here is trying to add new fields to existing features,
that's what the field calculator does.
If you just want to add new features, then simply click the Add Feature
button on the attribute table (in case your layer has no geometry) or the
Add Polygon/Line/Point feature from the digitizing toolbar on the main
screen.
