Yes, what you describe is what has happened in the past. A lot of our data is sent to us in Mid/Mif format and it was this that I was trying to load yesterday when the behaviour changed. I was still able to load shape files and geopackages. The import question arises with these Mid/Mif files. Is there a way to turn that off?

Hi Johanna,

(At least for me) that depends what I'm dropping.

If it's a file type with a single geometry it goes straight in.
For example shp or a zip file with a single shape file inside

If it's a file type with multiple geometries or a container with multiple possibilities then you'll get asked.
For example GPX or zip file with shape and explanatory pdf inside (because there isn't an obvious way of telling if the pdf is georeferenced and you might then want to load it).

In the past, I was able to click and drag files from File Explorer on to my QGIS canvas. Today, after installing QGIS 3.22, when I try to do that, I get a dialogue box with Select Items to Add in the header. The beauty of the drag and drop was that it didn't need that confirmation.
Is there a way to turn that off?
