I would like to be able to render OSM data sometimes unioned with local
data, in a way which is sort of like the standard style but different in
various ways, rendering things that the mapnik style doesn't,
emphasizing and coloring certain trails, enhanced for extreme zoom for
micromapping, etc.  I am unclear on cartocss but am guessing it could be
part of an easier path.

If I'm confused, it might be good to give an example of how one would
use what you are working one.
