[Qgis-user] Creating a map with only streets and street names

Hello QGIS community,
I am working with QGIS 4.0.2 on a Windows 11 system.  I installed the OSGeo4W Long term Release LTR 3.44.
I've been trying to get this to work for 2 weeks so far.
I've been able to get the basic outline of the entire territory I want to map (see snap shot below).  But I will need to make several individual maps like the one included in this email.  I plan to save them as PDF's.  Nothing fancy is required (no colors, buildings, water images, etc.).
I've watched countless videos but still can't drive this project to a conclusion.  I believe I need to load some data source for roads in my area, outline the map on a layer, adjust the road line sizes.  But, no success so far!!!


WHAT I'VE DONE WITH QGIS SO FAR.


THIS IS WHAT I DESIRE TO ACCOMPLISH.  I WILL NEED SEVERAL MAPS SIMILAR TO THE ONE BELOW TO DESCRIBE THE WHOLE TERRITORY.
