One of my users is having *fun and games* with a project file which hangs and is unresponsive.

This project is one where the user drags and drops a .gml file onto the canvas to produce a map of a specific area. I don't want to update her to a later version because 2.4 is the last version to automatically update the gml file to the legend. The Auto Update function in later versions updates all the layers and that is one step too far for this user.

When my user opens the file, according to IT, it sits for a while allocating memory and then finally opens the layers that are needed. But once the map has been produced, the original gml file removed and another added for the second map, QGIS becomes Not Responding. I blame the network, but IT tell me it is the nature of open source software.
