I found an answer that I assume the original poster Marian came up
with on G.I.S. Stack Exchange. It's here:<br>
<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/150525/qgis-2-8-starts-with-an-error-and-i-am-not-able-to-run-python-console?rq=1">https://gis.stackexchange.com/questions/150525/qgis-2-8-starts-with-an-error-and-i-am-not-able-to-run-python-console?rq=1</a><br>
<br>
Her answer worked mostly for me. I am still getting a python error
at startup, but the console works now. <br>
<br>
Marian states "... I have also notified QGIS project about the
changes on their code. Unfortunately I did not get any answer from
them." I'm including that with this post to the list in case it
makes the fix more apparent. <br>

I have a similar problem as what's happened to Marian. However, I
am using CentOS 7, FWIW. I get the same error message at start-up
as when I try to run the Python console. Here it is:<br>

<pre>Hi,
I managed to install 2.8 on Red Hat 7. It took me a while to find all dependencies but I made it.
Thank you for your support.
This is the error.
There is a small issue of launching Python Console from QGIS.
