I think the gpsmap 64 uses both proprietary Garmin image files and
jpeg files for maps. The image files are quite difficult to create,
though all the information is out there if you're patient
Uploading jpeg images is much simpler, and the instructions can be
found on the Garmin website <a moz-do-not-send="true"

or <a moz-do-not-send="true"

You can use the Map Composer in QGIS to create a map with
annotations and such that can be exported as a jpeg, or you can just
export from the map canvas - Project->Import/Export->Export
Map to Image
I’m fairly new to QGIS but I’m loving what I’ve encountered so
far.
What I wish to do now is adding information layers to scanned
geological maps and then export them to my Garmin gpsmaps 64s so I
can work with the maps in the field.

What would be the way to do this? Is it possible to create jnx
files with QGIS or is there another way?
I read about the GPSBabel plugin but it does not show in the
plugin list.
I have QGIS3 3.4.2 Madeira installed on OSX. Don’t know if that
matters.
Hope someone can help me in the right direction.
Thanks!
