An update, and this is really really weird.<br>
<br>
<br>
So a colleague of mine save a QGIS3 project on our work network. If I<br>
double click on it, then I manage to open QGIS 3.4. I copied it on my PC<br>
and I managed again to open the project in QGIS3 by double clicking. Then<br>
if I close, and try to open QGIS via the Start menu, it crashes. Why?<br>

Would really like to solve this.<br>

I know the network plugin. It help me to understand this bug.<br>

The bug is due to the wms provider that when you click on "add to map"<br>
button try to read from the cache the capability info.<br>
<br>
If te cache is to zero , in old qgis 2.18 the wms provider do another<br>
request getcapabilities to the wms server to have it.<br>
Instead in the qgis 3, if the cache if to zero, the request is not saved<br>
and the read for add to map fail.<br>
<br>
I notice this happen with mapserver and geosevrver, instead with<br>
qgis-server don'.<br>
<br>
The only explanation I can do is that for qgis-server it used a differente<br>
code for provider wms.<br>

It's the wms server that doesn't work. It has (probably) nothing to to <br>
with QGIS. I've tried the activate the wms address directly in a Firefox <br>
browser and it does not return a getcapabilities document (it doesn't <br>
return anything) .<br>

The wmts adress works though.<br>

Both the WMS and the WMTS addresses are correct according to this http <br>

I am on QGIS 3.8 and I try to setup a 3D visualization. I am on MacBook Pro<br>
13'' 2018 with an Intel Iris Plus Graphics 655 graphic card.<br>

As data, I have a SHP layer with building footprints (polygons) and a<br>
building height attribute (no absolute altitude though), as well as a DEM<br>
raster (SRTM).<br>

I am trying to setup a 3D Map View: In the "3D View" layer properties for<br>
the building layer, I use the height attribute as extrusion and leave the<br>
height at 0. Then for the altitude clamping, I choose Terrain.<br>
<br>
My expectation is that the altitude of the buildings will be taken from the<br>
terrain layer configured in the 3D map view and then the extrusion will<br>
happen on top of that.<br>
<br>
However, what I get instead in the 3D map view is all my buildings floating<br>
at the same altitude and well above the terrain (see the screenshot at<br>
<a href="https://ibb.co/mzPVC1w" rel="noreferrer noreferrer" target="_blank">https://ibb.co/mzPVC1w</a> ). The extrusion seems to work fine. I have tried<br>
with a smaller DEM (cut to the extent of the building layer) but this time<br>
the buildings get below the DEM (see <a href="https://ibb.co/FKrJynd" rel="noreferrer noreferrer" target="_blank">https://ibb.co/FKrJynd</a> ).<br>

Is my expectation about the Terrain altitude clamping wrong ? And it is<br>
supposed to do something completely different ? If it is right, has anyone<br>
managed to make it work (maybe using a different graphic card) ?<br>

Also what is the difference between Terrain altitude clamping and Relative<br>
altitude clamping ?<br>
