<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">When I later did try to save something it saved but then immediately crashed/closed. Searching for that “feature”/behavior I found something about that having to do with old QGIS
files being around and to reinstall, but that didn’t make any sense.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-size:12.0pt;font-family:"Courier New"">So I changed the Recent Projects variable to 1 and it works right again. So apparently you CANNOT use 0 as the number of Recent Projects. I switched it back and forth a couple times
and it did the same thing and it is 100% repeatable.<o:p></o:p></span></p>

<p class="MsoNormal" style="margin-bottom:12.0pt">If you just want to hide the recent projects on the opening screen, go to Settings->General->Project Files and select something other than<s> "Most Recent"</s> "Welcome Page".<br>

If you still want a list of recent projects, but a shorter list, go to Settings->Advanced and search for maxRecent and change the value. This will also change the length of the list of recent projects in Project->Open Recent<o:p></o:p></p>
