I was confusing the old .qpj file format that was used for the shapefiles a while ago. That format was a temporary fix. Looks like Mapinfo store the info in the .map file. This can be seen more clearly if you export the file to the MID/MIF format as pointed out by others.</div><div><br></div><div>You say QGIS no longer exports the projection in the output when saving to Mapinfo format. Can’t you check the mid-mif export file or use OGRINFO to see if this is correct? </div><div><br></div><div><a href="https://gdal.org/programs/ogrinfo.html">https://gdal.org/programs/ogrinfo.html</a></div><div><br></div><div>Another possibility is that you are using, in QGIS, a projection that is not recognized by Mapinfo. This could be the case if a files opens in the correct crs in QGIS but not in Mapinfo. You may need to update the Mapinfow.prj file with the unrecognized projections…. <p>I tested exporting a .shp using 3.20.3. I see no prj file but
the file CRS is correctly positioned. It's possible the .prj
extension was a temporary fix??? Test in MapInfo.</p>

to MapInfo tab file it is no longer saving the projection in
the output.
