I do agree that such a boycott is problematic, in the same way that boycotting apolitical Chinese organizations for China's crimes against humanity is problematic. But I do agree with Markus that Russia's actions here are abominable. I think a reasonable compromise, FWIW, could be that Russian QGIS devs/users, at least those in the diaspora, unequivocally condemn Russian aggression and declare solidarity with Ukraine, or make some similar declaration.
Ari

On Thu, Feb 24, 2022 at 1:49 PM Jeff Sonnentag <jsonnentag@llenviroinc.com> wrote:

You can have another "Fully agreed with Andreas" from here. . . .
Would you be overjoyed and supportive of a "boycott" of QGIS if it comes out anybody in any war is using it for mapping stuff?

People could come up with all kinds of places considered "civilized" that went/are way off the tracks on COVID BS. Want to ban participation of all the other people who live under tyrants too?
Fully agreed with Andreas. We try to make the world a better, more free place by developing QGIS with a free and open source licence, let's stick to this and welcome any contribution.
Cheers.
