Here's what I did:
1. Windows key + R gets me to a Run window and then CMD gets me to a
command prompt.
2. chdir c:\osgeo4w gets me to the OSGeo4W folder.
3. Separately, I tried each of the following four commands:
c. qgis
b. qgis --profile my-new-profile
c. qgis-ltr --profile my-new-profile
d. qgis --noplugins

In each case the response is: 'qgis' is not recognized as an internal
or external command, operable program or batch file.

I found qgis-ltr-bin.exe in C:\QGIS 3.34.14 and double-clicked
on it: nothing happened..
I found qgis-bin.exe in C:\OSGeo4W\bin and double-clicked on
it: nothing happened..
Shall I re-install QGIS 3.40 ? The only QGIS that appears in Windows
"Settings Installed apps" is QGIS 3.34. I was running QGIS 3.40 a few
days ago but it now seems to have evaporated. (I watched for about 15
minutes while hundreds of MB downloaded. Then I had to modify several
Python scripts to suit QT6.)
I would welcome any advice .
H Stephen,
are you still running QGIS, as advertised, from the OSGeo4W Shell using
the "qgis-ltr --profile my-new-profile" command?

Doesn't running "qgis-ltr --profile my-new-profile2" work?

If it works, then the issue may be related to some plugin or Python
script that you installed in your QGIS user profiles.

Regards.
