Lance,

Just an update of where we are and one request

I'd like to allocate more ips to osgeo7 to support the VMs we are migrating.

Right now osgeo7 is getting it's ip via DHCP. We won't need as many ips as we did before, but sadly 1 is not enough. Is there any issue with me changing this to static and adding in additional abandoned ips we had allocated to us?

Updates of where we are with migration below:

I just checked and osgeo3 has no failed drives (currently). However, osgeo4 has one failed drive in a RAID6 and if you'd like to replace it, it seems like it's going to be fairly cheap [1]. This should be an exact replacement. If you do plan on replacing it, you should buy 2-3 more just in case others fail.

Do you have any idea when you'll be wrapping the migrations up?

Thanks-

I've migrated our adhoc and projects VMs that were on osgeo4 to our new LXD host as lxd containers. I still have some configurations and checks to do before we can shut osgeo4 down and also confirm people don't run into issues with the change – Alex – those were the only 2 vms on osgeo4 left besides QGIS right?

I asked Jef about the QGIS vm and he said they have some paypal thing running on it, but not a big deal if we kill the server, that he can resetup. I'd still like to take an image of it though just in case.

As I recall I think Alex said osgeo4 raid controller is so damaged that he doesn't want to trust it for anything so would just like to chuck osgeo4 when we are done unless Lance has a better idea. I have no idea how costly it is to replace a bad raid controller - https://trac.osgeo.org/osgeo/ticket/1940 :)

On osgeo3 front – I'm almost done with download VM – once I have that in place, we can put in place the rsync OSUOSL offered a while back that we dropped the ball on.

The other VMs I may just migrate as is instead of rebuilding a new container for each as many are mission critical. This will still take some time though to reconfigure the ips, sites etc and confirm everyone is okay with the changes – so don't expect to be completed for another month or so if I'm lucky and then we could reformat osgeo3 as an additional lxd host.

Thanks,

Regina
