[Shapelib] php wrapper: dbf field name case?

Hi,

i'm currently working on a PHP Wrapper for Shapelib, at the moment
on adding DBF fields to newly created shape files.

Can anyone comment if i should convert field names to uppercase
before adding them? Most docs about DBF format mention that field
names are not case sensitive, and most files i've seen contain
fields just in upper case.

DBFAddField(), however, doesn't seem to change the given fieldname,
though.

So, what's the recommended way to go?
