Please consider this an invitation for your students to apply to the
Google Summer of Code program:
Victoria is home to several major players in the open-source geospatial
world; many of these projects are taking part in the Google Summer of
Code in conjunction with the Open Source Geospatial Foundation,
http://www.osgeo.org.
Students may apply to take on a summer project of their choosing, paid
by Google and mentored by members of the open source community. The
deadline for applications is quickly approaching: March 24th.
The following open source projects are taking part:
- GDAL
- GeoServer
- GeoTools (http://geotools.org)
- GRASS
- MapGuide
- PostGIS (http://postgis.refractions.net)
- uDig (http://udig.refractions.net)
- OpenJUMP
- MapServer
Potential tasks/ideas to take on:

More information about the Google Summer of Code program is available

If you have any questions, feel free to hit the mailing list associated
with your project of interest.
Cheers,
Cory.
