[SoC] Soft pencil down

Dear All,

this is a reminder that today is the suggested soft "pencil down" date.
Students should now start wrapping up their projects: take this week to
scrub the code, write tests, improve documentation, etc.. Remember that
students are required to stop all coding on 21 August (Firm pencil down
date).
