Hello everyone,

I am Candan Eylül Kilsedar from Turkey, currently in Italy. I am a PhD student at Politecnico di Milano, GEOlab. It is great to join the Google Summer of Code! I hope to learn a lot :) I have a background in computer science and engineering & GIS in particular. I will be working on the integration of OSM data into the ESA-NASA Web World Wind, and 3D visualization of it with a good performance.

I will be updating the wiki page [1], and working on the GitHub repository [2].

Dear students,

In [1] it’s already mentioned:

“as part of the your acceptance into GSoC, you are expected to actively participate in the Community Bonding period (May 4 - May 29). the *Community Bonding period* is intended to help get you ready to start contributing to your organization at full speed starting May 30th.”

There are now 20 days left for the community bonding period and we haven’t seen much student activity so far.

For a good starting point, we request following now:

* write an introducing email here to our SOC mailing list and to your community dev mailing list
* add links to your wiki page and public repository (where the community can follow your GSoC progress) in the accepted students wiki page [2]

Be active and have fun with OSGeo’s GSoC ! [3]

As community and communication work will be also part of your evaluation. :-)

kind regards,
your OSGeo GSoC Admins

Today we had our first Mentor-Student meeting via http://appear.in/
teleconferencing. I called it so we could have a quick meet and greet
between the three of us (me, Kevin, and Julia). It was mostly
introductions and chat, and just a few admin things to sort out. Worth
doing something like that if you don't know your student or your
co-mentors very well at the moment!

Thanks for the reminder, Helmut.

I'm Rodrigo. I'm from Brazil and I'm currently studying in Maynooth,
Ireland. Anyone around?

I'll work on integrating GBFS bikeshare information[2] into OneBusAway[3]
and OpenTripPlanner[4].

Cheers,
Rodrigo

Hello everyone,

My name is Luka Glusica and this is my second time participating in Google
Summer of Code. I will be working on improvements of the IstSOS Web API,
specifically in a matter of javascript core library design and
functionality, and also rewriting the IstSOS Web Widget Creator app using
React framework. IstSOS Web API is a GSoC 2016 project and it's purpose is
to expose communication with IstSOS WA REST interface.

GSoC inspired me to do a lot of interesting stuff and opened a lot of doors
for me, so I'm thankful for participation in the GSoC project again.

Best wishes to you all,

Luka

Hi everyone,

My name is Vidhan Jain and I am a prefinal year undergraduate student at
the LNMIIT, India. I am participating in the Google Summer of Code for the
first time. I'll be working on the rewrite of Turn Restricted Shortest Path
in PgRouting.

Here <https://github.com/pgRouting/pgrouting/wiki/GSoC-2017-Rewrite-TRSP> is
the link to the wiki page for the same.

Best of luck and wish you all have a great summer ahead.

Thanks,
Vidhan
