Nico: reenvío tu consulta a la lista de correo de OSGeo en Español. Lo que 
quieres hacer (mapas de cloropetas) creo que sería más fácil con una 
herramienta tipo CartoDB o GeoCommons, o con un SIG de Escritorio. A ver qué 
te dicen desde OSGeo.
