[Tilecache] Making TileCache seed faster?

It's 1.9  We're using URLs similar to the following:
./tilecache_seed.py http://localhost/tc-1.9/tilecache.cgi? layer

I don't see a mention in the README of using the local Python. Will this 
be done automatically, or should I use an file:// URL, or what?
