[Tilecache] How to calculate the correct Resolution?

Hi,

Could anyone explain to me how to calculate the correct Resolution to a
given Scale?
I need the map in Scale 1:5000 meter.

So i try to calculate :

screenResolution = 100 dpi --> 39,37007874015748031496062992126 dots per cm
 screenResolution*100 --> 3937,007874015748031496062992126 dots per meter

tilecacheResolution = 5000 / 3937,007874015748031496062992126 = 1,27

is that correct?

Because the picture i get from tilecache isn't exactly the same i get from
my wms-client
