[Tilecache] custom map server not WMS

Please, any advice on how to go about extending TileCache to work with a
proprietary map server that does not use a common architecture?  This
map server is not WMS or OGC-compliant.

If you know what classes to extend or mimic, or what examples to look
at, please do share.

I appreciate any guidance on this.
