I was so focused by my previous experiences with Apache 2.0 and
mod_python 3.2.7 (3.3.1 did not work but the other did, and this time I
had the same httpd.conf ;-) ) that I skipped the basic.  I should have
thought about the handler knowing the same Python code was executed in
CGI mode without a problem.
