Howdy,

O.K., I removed MapServer in its entirety and manually cleaned everything
having to do with GDAL. Then reinstalled it all:

apt-get install cgi-mapserver mapserver-bin mapserver-doc php5-mapscript
python-mapscript
apt-get install gdal-bin
apt-get install gdal-mrsid-src
gdal-mrsid-build /usr/local/Geo_DSDK-7.0.0.2167

MrSID images now works using MapServer 5.4.0!

However, I am not certain why the much more common and popular ".jp2" images
do not work? I do not know what type of imagery or file extensions the
JP2MrSID and JPEG2000 formats support. Possibly ECW or JASPER are needed
for my ".jp2" images ???

Thanks,
Kris DeLaney
