[Ubuntu] New Subscriber - MrSID help

Hello everyone,

 

I am a new subscriber here.  

 

I recently performed a fresh install of Lucid and installed GDAL 1.7 from
the ppa.  However, I'm having problems with compiling the MrSID plugin.  I
don't get any obvious error messages on the compile.  However it looks like
the resulting gdal_MrSID.so is bad.  I just get illegal operation errors
from GDAL until I delete it.  Has anyone tried compiling it and had luck?
