[Ubuntu] cpp and python codes not able to access gdal library

Even,
I tried the followings but the response did not change...
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:ubuntugis/ubuntugis-unstable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install python-gdal
Any suggestions?
