Hi Angelos,

I was able to get it sorted. I updated to 20.04 from 18.04 because I needed GDAL 3.31 or greater (In unstable you have 3.3.2 available for focal only) and I think there were some remnants left over from a previous version of GDAL.

I documented what I had to do to get it working with a few downstream R packages here: https://bertelsen.ca/post/gdal-3-3-1-on-ubuntu/
Installing a newer version of gdal on Ubuntu 20.04 | @beb<https://bertelsen.ca/post/gdal-3-3-1-on-ubuntu/>

Essentially, it appeared to still be looking for libs from older versions, requiring me to symlink them. In hindsight this doesn't appear to be an "ubuntugis" problem but a PBKAC problem regarding the upgrade of the distro and a need to rebuild/recompile downstream packages in the right order.

Might be good to keep in mind though, if you have another user with a similar problem.

Great work preparing this PPA @ubuntugis team!

Thanks!

Hi,

Thanks for the report but I could not replicate this issue.
Can you please check if you have more ppas enabled?

Regards,
Angelos

Hello!

I was attempting to using the installation candidate for 3.3.2 in your unstable ppa. It installs successfully, however, gdalinfo --version reports that it can't find libjson-c.so.3 (The deb candidate currently available for focal is libjson-c4. I attempted to install the bionic version of libjson-c3, however, that led further down a rabbit hold with a complaint about libnetcdf13 (now, in focal, libnetcdf15).

Would love to know if there's a fix for this. But if not, happy to fill out a bug report somewhere if you point me in the right direction.

Thanks!
