Casestudies update - Antony Scott
One more casestudy from Aberdeen university received. Anthony in contact with authors for putting it in OSGeo format. Once ready will be put in OSGeo:UK site and Anthony to send email in the list. Also Anthony's article to be published in GIS Professional is a good example of casestudies being promoted widely through industry publications. If we receive good case studies, we will encourage authors to submit for publications.
Events update - All
Addy couldn't join today's meeting but send info on events. Addy running a workshop at the Institute of Web managers on how to improve campus maps. He will be demoing several tools and making use of OpenLayers, QGIS and GDAL so giving a bit more exposure of open geo tools.
Saber ran a free workshop with parishes in Wiltshire using QGIS and Open Data (July 12th)
Anthony having some conversations with Ordnance Survey about an open source GIS event for Housing Associations
Abi attending Open Source, Geo & Health Workshop on 9 August, Edinburgh
Planning informal meeting at AGI 2011 like last year
Barry going to the R User conference in Warwick in a few weeks
Barry organising GISRUK 2012 in Lancaster. All to support Barry's effort for strong Open Source GI theme at GISRUK 2012
Research and academic activities update - Suchith Anand
Suchith updated about the ELOGeo repository now activated at http://elogeo.nottingham.ac.uk/
key aim is to have as many high quality training materials for all to use. Welcome teaching materials contribution from all. Over time more universities will start teaching OS GIS and having the training materials is very important first step, as when high quality training materials are available, staff in many universities will be able to teach them
