Dear colleagues,

I trust this e-mail finds you well.

NOTE:
Following the first round of discussion with some partners (IHP focal points,
experts etc.), we decided to widen our sphere of HOPE’s activities to Free and/or Open Source Software (FOSS) because there is much more “Free Software” than
“Free and Open Source Software” in the water management field and we don’t want
to miss the opportunity to have the FREE SOFTWARE in the HOPE’s Kit since they
can be useful for the target area.

We
therefore readjusted the survey and request you to take few moments to complete
the NEW HOPE PROJECT assessment (Click
here to access).

As I mentioned in a
previous E-mail, a dedicated space on the WSIS-KC Knowledge Communities
platformhas been created to capture your
contribution to UNESCO’s Hydro Open-source software Platform of Experts (HOPE)
initiative. Thus, you can now participate in the discussions that would lead to
an official launch of the HOPE platform in Paris towards the first trimester of
2013. During this meeting, partners and members of the WSIS-KC HOPE Communities platformwill agree on the way forward piloting the project in
countries/region(s).
To be part of the WSIS-KC HOPE
Communities platform, please follow first
the instructions and register your profile in the WSIS KC - knowledge
communities’ platform [http://www.wsis-community.org/pg/register/] and then sign up on the HOPE project.

We are also waiting for your feedback through our
social networks and we will keep you informed about the development of the
project through the below addresses :

Web page: http://www.hope-initiative.net/blog/
Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/UNESCO.HOPE.Initiative
And
Twitter : @HOPEInitiative1

Remember thatUNESCO HOPE team invites you to participate in an assessment survey (Click
here to access) designed to gauge your opinions on how to provide Member
States excellence in the area of Open-source software in hydrology. This survey
concerns your recent interactions with specialized software in hydrology and
will help us to lead the discussions on the WSIS-KC Knowledge Communities
platform on the subject. Your responses will be kept
confidential.
We are convinced that
you will be an important player in the success of this project and an asset to
the discussions on the HOPE platform on WSIS KC - Knowledge Communities
website.
All the best, Youssef

PS: If you know any partner institutions and individuals that might be
interested in the project, do not hesitate to forward them this E-mail.
