[OSGeo-UK] Saving as a jpeg from QGIS print composer

I am trying to save a map in QGIS print composer.  The map comprises two shapefiles over a base map of Google Satellite imagery or Mapquest OSM.  After pressing "Save" to complete the operation the map disappears from the Composer and is not saved.  Is this a permissions issue with the plugin or is there some other reason for its failure to save?
I am running QGIS 2.10.1 via Windows 7 on a desktop.
