[OSGeo-UK] EOEPCA+: OSGeo Community Project Spotlight

Good Morning OSGeo:UK,

I'm writing on behalf of the team behind the OSGeo Community Project – EOEPCA+<https://www.osgeo.org/projects/eoepca/>. Awarded to Telespazio UK by the European Space Agency (ESA) in 2023 as part of its Platform Interoperability Building Block Evolution programme, EOEPCA+ is a rapidly evolving system, and today I’d like to give you a brief insight into what it’s all about.

As satellite Earth Observation (EO) platforms increasingly provide cloud-based data and applications, users gain the ability to process information remotely and at scale; yet the ecosystem remains fragmented. EOEPCA+ addresses this by enhancing interoperability between platforms, drawing on OGC standards to support applications across Ground Segment, EO Science, R&D, and many others.

The vision is for an open, federated network of EO resources, in turn enabling global access to standardised at-source geospatial workflows. With EOEPCA+, users can package and deploy their workflows as cloud-native apps that move seamlessly between environments, fostering collaboration and scalability. This is made possible through a set of reusable, interoperable software Building Blocks that adapt to diverse platform needs.

Drawing on the expertise of global partners<https://eoepca.org/partners/> and contributors<https://github.com/EOEPCA>, the development is rapidly accelerating through Phase 2 with a landmark system release<https://github.com/EOEPCA/eoepca-plus/releases/tag/2.0-rc1> a short time ago.
