The British Geological Survey is embarking on a new phase of improvements with our digital map products and we require your input to help us better understand your needs and your challenges in relation to BGS Geology map data and its use in your organisation.
What are we doing
Our digital geological maps<https://www.bgs.ac.uk/datasets/bgs-geology/> are a unique national resource. A good understanding of the subsurface is critical for many applications across a wide range of disciplines, from aquifer management, radioactive waste disposal, mineral resources, engineering and geohazards to name but a few. Geological maps and digital data help make investment and planning decisions, assess hazards and de-risk projects. We are constantly aiming to update and improve our maps, so they are fit for the digital demands of the 21st century<https://www.bgs.ac.uk/about-bgs/strategy-2023-to-2028/#maps>.
Why are we doing it
The maintenance and development of our geological data is a vital part of our survey role. The BGS is constantly striving to improve our map compilation and dissemination procedures. This is especially important as technologies change and offer new ways to disseminate information. The way we collect, compile, and produce map data is also changing, so this provides the perfect opportunity to review the way our maps and products are developed and delivered to our customers.
How you can input
Implementing effective change requires input from all our stakeholder groups and we'd like to hear from you. What are your current priorities? What problems are being solved using our data? What would you like to see in the future? We really value your input and would appreciate you completing this short questionnaire (link below) providing as much context as possible.

Many thanks for any assistance you can give.
