Hi all,
I thought this be of direct interest to a lot of people on the mailing list so I thought I'd share it with you all.
FOSDEM is a free, community-driven conference in Brussels that brings together developers and enthusiasts of free and open-source software. I spoke at the event last year and it's an incredible scale and atmosphere. Next years event will take place on the last weekend of January and there will be a geospatial developer room on Saturday, 31 January 2026. The room is now welcoming talk proposals.
If you work with open-source geospatial tools, data, or applications, please consider submitting a session. Topics of interest include GIS software, web mapping, data visualisation, mobile data collection, AI/ML for geospatial, standards and interoperability, OSM, environmental and sustainability applications, smart cities, IoT, and real-world case studies.
Key dates:
*
1 December 2025 – Submission deadline
*
15 December 2025 – Notification of acceptance
*
31 January 2026 – Devroom day at FOSDEM
Submit your proposal at: https://fosdem.org/submit (choose the Geospatial devroom track).
Talks are typically 25 minutes, with some 10-minute lightning slots available.
Please also share this Call for Participation within your networks.
FOSDEM’s Code of Conduct is available here: https://fosdem.org/2026/practical/conduct/
Many thanks,
James
