OSGeo:UK members and anyone interested in OSGeo in the UK,
<br>
<br>
We can confirm the date for OSGeo:UK's AGM is Mon 18th Nov and we
will be meeting online at 1pm.
<br>
<br>
I have included an agenda below, but there are two key items that
we will be discussing which we want your input for.
<br>
<br>
Firstly, we want you to be involved in OSGeo:UK. If you are
interested in being involved in OSGeo:UK in anyway, please come
along to the AGM and consider standing for the committee.
<br>
<br>
We have three named roles in the management committee (Chair, Nick
Bearman; Secretary, Ant Scott; and Treasurer, Matt Travis) and up
to four other voting members (currently Dave Barter, Alastair
Graham, Tom Chadwin, Tom Armitage (voting) and Joseph Seddon
(non-voting)). As per our constitution
(<a class="moz-txt-link-freetext" href="https://uk.osgeo.org/files/OSGeoUKFinalConstitution_2018_amendments-signed.pdf">https://uk.osgeo.org/files/OSGeoUKFinalConstitution_2018_amendments-signed.pdf</a>)
we are elected annually at the AGM, so if you want to stand for
any of these roles, please let us know. If required, a vote at the
AGM will be organised.
<br>
<br>
Anyone can be a member of OSGeo:UK (by joining our mailing list)
and come along to our meetings.
<br>
<br>
Secondly, we want your input for GoFundGeo - to help us to decide
who to fund this year. Building on our previous two years of
GoFundGeo (2021-22 and 2022-23), we continue to use surplus funds
from FOSS4G:UK conferences (and other funds) to support Open
Source Geospatial software projects that will have an impact in
the UK. We have approximately £6000 available for sponsorship this
year and we will be following a broadly similar application
process to last year. Full details will be circulated shortly, but
applications for funding will close on Wed 13th Nov, in time for
discussion before the AGM on Mon 18th Nov. At the AGM we will
decide who to fund - so please come along and express your
opinion.
<br>
<br>
I have included the full agenda below. Please do come along and
join us on Mon 18th Nov to help plan the future of OSGeo:UK.
<br>
<br>
Best wishes,
<br>
Nick.
<br>
<br>
Agenda:
<br>
- Present / Apologies
<br>
- Minutes from 2023
<br>
- Accounts 2023-2024
<br>
- Election of Officers
<br>
- Discussion around election process
<br>
- We noted last year that we needed to encourage other members
to put themselves forward for the committee. There are currently
no term limits for officers or committee members, so previously it
has been very easy to just keep the same people on the committee
unless someone actively wants to leave. This year we have more
explicitly advertised for people to put themselves forward.
<br>
- Moving forward, we can discuss whether we want to adopt a
set term (e.g. 3 years) after which people stand down and the
positions are open for election.
<br>
- QGIS Domains - update
<br>
- Communications - update (inc. newsletter)
<br>
- FOSS4G:UK 2024 South West
<br>
- Future events
<br>
- FOSS4G:UK 2025
<br>
- FOSS4G 2026?
<br>
- Funding of Open Source Geo Projects (GoFundGeo)
<br>
- AOB
<br>
