[UN] Motion: proposal of a new chair of the OSGeo UN Committee

Dear All

First and foremost, I extend my warmest New Year greetings to all!

I am reaching out to you, in alignment with Serena (co-chair of the OSGeo UN Committee), to formally declare our decision to step down as chairs after several years of service. We believe it's time to pass the torch to fresh and younger individuals who are already actively engaged in UN-related initiatives.

In particular, Arien Anthieni (User:Aanthieni - OSGeo) has shown remarkable dedication in the past year to formally integrate OSGeo into the UN GGIM Geospatial Societies (UNSD — UN-GGIM), and OSGeo will soon be recognized as a new contributor to this network.

While Serena and I remain involved in the UN GGIM Academic Network and the UN Open GIS Initiative, we are convinced that a change in leadership is essential to bring renewed visibility and attract new talent to this field.

Therefore, we want to nominate Ariel as the prospective chair of the OSGeo UN Committee.

Kindly let us know your thoughts on this proposal by responding to this email before January 15th, 2024.

My vote stands at +1 for Ariel.
