Hi Perry,
actually the header is done by two images:
http://www.osgeo.org/themes/spreadfirefox/images/osgeo_logo_2.jpg
http://www.osgeo.org/themes/spreadfirefox/images/osgeo_logo_2_right.jpg

you can play with them as you like.
