Yes, that's the idea.  Or, at least, the first block in the right
sidebar.  This allows us to define that section on each child site, and
allow changes in that part of the theme to ripple down to all of the
other sites.

I'm not sure if I'm feeling too controlling here.  Arnulf?  Is this
reasonable to impose an OSGeo section on the main page of subdomains?
To much reduction in freedom?

Looking at the example I sent, it would probably be best to have an
<h2>FOSS4G 2007</h2> title above the FOSS4G banner so that it's clear
that it's a separate item.

Jason, I do like this solution and agree to adopt it.
Let's wait for others to comment and soon I'll do a live example on

the idea, please correct me if I'm wrong, is to have a right bar mostly
dedicated to OSGeo informations (links).
