Would it be reasonable to put project-specific stuff above or below the
OSGeo block in dynamic sections? 

I'd like to see some consistent OSGeo section on the hosted
subdomains...  but I could be convinced that I'm being too draconian
really easily.

First let me say I think this looks really good. But I do think the
projects need some flexibility around changing the events section etc. 
We can of course do that through HTML / PHP if necessary.
