Jo,

I have put this on the agenda for the next webcom meeting (deprecating
the news project) as an act of simplification.

Apparently there are historical technical issues with doing this.
While it is irritating to folks like Jason who can't easily access
cvs through firewalls, my understanding is that we were going to let
it be for now.

Jo, I see you weren't listed as a project developer for the www project.
I have taken the liberty of adding you. Now if you visit:

   https://www.osgeo.org/servlets/ProjectHome

you should reach the normal project page for the www project. From there
the CVS link on the left side will indicate the CVS connect info.

Actually, there is no index.html as far as I know. The main page
seems to be automatically composed from various parts. The main body
is ProjectHome.html.html, but we are apparently no longer putting news
there. Instead to get the news on the "main" page we announce it using
the Announce mechanism for the www project. We separately hand add
it to the news_archive.html file.

Please fixup the wiki as you work through these items.

PS. I'm in IRC if you have more questions.

Best regards,
