Dear participants of the WPS Benchmarking 2014,
I am glad to announce that the proposal to present results of the WPS Benchmarking during both FOSS4G-Europe in Bremen and FOSS4G in Portland this year were accepted.

I am also happy to announce that we have champion(s) for the participating team on the OSGeo wiki page [1] (the . They should all have received an email containing their personal information to connect through SSH to their server instance and the main one. If it is not the case for you, please let me now as soon as possible to let us send you the informations again.

I hope that the setup of each team can be made on the current instances available, we followed the Jachym’s proposal of setting OSGeoLive environment. Each team is invited to make their setup, if it is not already made, on their instance to run the tests against and add the WPS server URL on the OSGeo wiki page [1] in the corresponding column.

As I introduced in the original email, I’ve made some modifications to the test script we used in Denver to add more testing of compliancy that we had at that time. The expected test script is described here [2], we cannot ensure by now that the shell script run the full list of expected tests correctly, we are still experimenting by now, but are able to get some result already. Note that currently the WFS features come from an external server, it may be better to use a local WFS server. You can find a copy of the current script from here [3], note that we should probably add it to the GitHub.com group [4] to make every member able to modify it. One more time, if you are not a member of the GitHub group please feel free to send and email to me to make me able to add you to the group.

As you can see in the Test description wiki page, I listed services which should be available for each implementations. I think we may create scenarios by using the listed services. Obviously, if anyone think that this may not be enough for testing implementations please feel free to let us now.

Even if the work on testing procedure is not finished yet, at least, by now we have something to start with for simple testing purpose. I know we have delay in proposing such a script and I hope it won’t cause any trouble to anyone for running tests and setting up their servers.

I hope we can have some ideas of scenarios we would like to have presented during the FOSS4G-Europe in Bremen and those we want to present during FOSS4G in Portland. We can separate the objectives from one conference to another as it may be difficult to have full results for the first event. So, we have now to actively propose scenarios which can be built for the WPS Benchmaking.

I hope to hear back from you,
Best regards,

Gérald Fenoy
