 Hi Niels,

 many thanks for your feedbacks.

 I've added the {{{-fPIC}}} option to the {{{Makefile.in}}} line you
 pointed out. This is now available on the SVN server as [changeset:50
 rev.50]. Indeed, I think that there is no need for adding the
 {{{-shared}}} option to the file but I can be wrong.

 I hope you can tell us if this modification solve your issue when
 compiling on 64 bits platform.

 your side when compiling on such an architecture.
